El Portil Lagoon Nature Reserve
The Laguna de El Portil Nature Reserve is located on the right bank of the mouth of the river Odiel. The present vegetation is dominated by stone pine and some specimens of maritime pine, under which various plant communities can be recognized. In its waters waterfowl abound, being possible to contemplate the striking courtship of the great crested grebe or listen to the long, high-pitched sound, like a whinny, emitted by the little grebe.
The path, or its route of 4 km, consists of going around the lagoon crossing the dune area in a first stretch and then entering a pine forest with a typical coastal flora with some junipers and aromatic plants such as thyme among others.
